What is Indoor Touch?

Indoor Touch is a unique variation of touch rugby, played indoors during the winter season. It’s designed to maintain the intensity and excitement of outdoor touch rugby while adapting to the indoor environment. With specific rules tailored to the indoor setting, Indoor Touch ensures a smooth, fast-flowing game that challenges players’ agility, teamwork, and strategy.

Key Features of the InDoor Touch League:

• Indoor Winter Play: Indoor Touch is played indoors, providing a comfortable and controlled environment for the game during the colder months. No need to worry about the weather—just focus on the game!
• Central Edinburgh Location: Our league is hosted at centrally located indoor venues in Edinburgh, making it easy for teams from across the city to participate.
• Sub-Box Setup: Both team sub-boxes are positioned on the same side of the pitch, on either side of the halfway line. Each team’s sub-box is located on the side of the score zone they are defending, with the referee stationed on the opposite side of the pitch. Teams swap sub-boxes at halftime to keep things fair.
• Dynamic Gameplay: The game starts with a tap-off from behind the attacking team’s score zone. The defending team begins in their own half, and teams change sides at halftime, with the other team receiving the tap-off. The score zone remains ‘closed’ until two passes are completed, adding a strategic layer to the attacking play.
• Rolling Substitutions: Players can be substituted throughout the game, but must follow specific rules to avoid penalties. This keeps the game fresh and allows for continuous play.
